It was the regional airline of Australia with its main base in Canberra, Australia. The airline was established in 1994 and emerged as an executive air charter and aircraft hire service provider. Later in 2000, Brindabella Airlines also started a flight training school. It started operating scheduled regional flights services in 2003.

Brindabella Airlines provided more than 150 regional flights per week to various destinations that include Canberra, Albury, Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Tamworth and Brisbane. Besides providing daily return flights between Canberra and Newcastle NSW, Canberra and Albury NSW, Brindabella Airlines also started direct service between Tamworth and Brisbane.

Brindabella was an affiliate of Qantas airlines with the support of Qantas Frequent Flyer program.

Brindabella stopped all its flights operations on 14 December 2013.
