It was the domestic airline of Tonga that was established in December 2005 in joint venture with Air Fiji. Airlines Tonga then became second regional airline of Tonga. It had its main base in Nuku'alofa, Tonga. The airline operated scheduled passenger flights to various destinations in Tonga. It served air flight services on behalf of Air Fiji.
Airlines Tonga ceased its all flights activity in August 2008 due to its inability to meet rising fuel costs.
