Yemenia airways was established by the chairmanship of Capt. Abdulkalek Saleh Al-Kadi, Yemania in 1961, and started operations in 1962. Its name was proposed as ‘Yemen Airways’ in 1972.
The Yemenia was merged with Yemen Arab Republic in 1977. The airline is owned by the Government of Yemen.
