It was the national airline based in Sofia, Bulgaria. The airline was established and started its operations in 1986. Hemus Airlines used to operate scheduled fights to both domestic as well as international flights destinations. It also operated the services of air cargo and air ambulance. Its main base was Sofia Airport, with a hub at Varna Airport.
The airline ceased to operate all its flight operations in 2010 and merged with Bulgaria Air.

Hemus Air Profile

The airline had proposed its name as ‘Hemus Air’ in 1991. Hemus Air was fully owned by Varna-based industrial and TIM enterprise. It was privatized by Bulgarian corporate investors in 2002.
Hemus and Bulgaria Air had already started code sharing on the Sofia-Berlin Tegel route in 2007. Airline initially started operating as a separate department providing ambulance services.
