This is the only national airline of Royal Bhutan. The airline operations started in January 1983 from Paro to Kolkata and Dhaka. In 1988 its Jet services with BAe 146-100 aircraft were started.
Druk Air is wholly owned by the Royal Government of Bhutan. The first commercial flight with an Airbus A319 took place in October 2004.
