Air Mauritius Profile

The airline was setup in June 1967 and started its operations modestly in August 1972. Its International operations started in 1977 by using a Boeing 707 from British Air tours. In 1998, the Air Mauritius was approved as a JAR (Joint Aviation Requirements) 145 Maintenance Organization by the French Direction Generale de L'Aviation Civile (DGAC). Air Mauritius launched a major corporate restructuring program in March 2002.
During the period of 1970s and 1980s, the airline launched Boeing 707s and Boeing 747s. It launched its new Airbus A340-300Es to London, Heathrow and Hong Kong in December 2006. It employs over 2,761 staff.
