It was national airline based in Blantyre, Malawi established in 1967. The airline of Malawi was wholly owned by the Malawi government and operated international air passenger services. Its main base was Chileka International Airport, Blantyre. Air Malawi was established by the Act of Parliament and had started its operations on September 1967.
In 2006 Air Malawi launched the second Boeing 737- 500 for the route expansion. In December 2006 a London flight and Dubai second frequency was launched on code share with Air Zimbabwe. In 1992 the BACs and the HS were used in the fleet for the domestic and regional air services.
With voluntary liquidation, the airline stopped all its flight services due to financial instability in 2013.
