After a number of changes in its name so many times, it became Air Austral in 1990. The airline was established in October 1974 and started operations in March 1975. Air Austral flight services to Paris were introduced on June 2003. In 1990 Air Austral launched the first Boeing 737, in 1994 the second Boeing 737, in 1997 the third Boeing 737, and the fourth one ATR 72-500 in 2000. In June 2005 the acquisition of the third Boeing 777-200 ER Air Austral has been granted rights to operate to other cities in southern and East Africa and the Indian Ocean on a non-scheduled basis.
