St Petersburg is a federal city of Russia. Besides Moscow, it is the second largest city of Russia. The city was famous by the name of Petrograd earlier and then it was known by the name of Leningrad. People also call the city simply by “Piter”. St Petersburg is one of the important Russian ports on the Baltic Sea Ports.
Despite being most western city of Russia, St Petersburg has always been the major cultural center in Europe. Many of the historic centers in the city are regarded as World Heritage Site of UNESCO. St Petersburg is also famous for its commercial activities sin the city.
